Course Aim
To provide delegates:
With knowledge on identifying toxic, flammable and corrosive hazards associated with chemicals and implementing the necessary controls.
Chemical Hazard Awareness Overview
This course will cover the following key areas:
- Classification and labelling
- Routes of Entry
- Safe Systems of Work
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Legislative Responsibilities
By the end of this course – you as delegates will be able to, or have knowledge and:
- Explain various chemical properties such as Toxicity, Flammability, Combustibility, Chemical Reactivity and other specific properties;
- Explain Flash Point, LEL, UEL, Auto Ignition temperature and Vapour density;
- Understand SHOC Cards and MSDS documentation;
- Understand the chemical signs, symbols and labels;
- Identify the hazards while handling, transporting and storing chemicals and understand the controls required; and
- Understand the recovery measures required in case of a spill or leak.
